I have been a lawyer since November 2, 2001, and practice exclusively in Harris and Fort Bend County, Houston, Texas.
I was born in New York City to very young parents who immigrated from Argentina, South America, making me a first- generation U.S. citizen by birth, (the first one in my entire family) which created all sorts of ideals and passions about equality, justice, and all those innocent concepts that naturally form in the minds of minority children.
From a very young age I was moved to choose a career in advocacy and law. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Miami in Florida in 1995, and my License to Practice Law in November 2001 after graduating from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas.

The LAST area I ever considered practicing was Family Law. Never-did- I- EVER see myself as a divorce lawyer, and ran in the opposite direction of anything divorce related. However, as we all know, life has a very unique way of meandering and forcing us to reconsider, especially when finances call for it, and I got “trapped” into family law. With each new family law case that I was retained to handle, I realized the uniqueness of this area of law and started respecting the process and accepted the privilege involved in representing clients who trust me and my office with such delicate areas of their lives: their children, their homes, their businesses, bank accounts, retirement benefits, careers, and sometimes their sanity! It is a very personal area of law that now I enjoy, practice exclusively, and have had much success in.

I believe that being forthcoming with my clients is essential. If the facts are bad, and a potential client is wrong, I am very clear about that from the inception, and counsel towards realistic expectations and work towards “damage-control” to place the client in the most positive light with the least amount of loss possible. In the long run, there is no point in giving a client false hopes and expectations, and I assure you that I do not do that. However, when the facts are “good,” I am meticulous and relentless and will encourage you to permit me to do what needs to be done to try to get you the most that you deserve. I am known by many of my peers as being excessively “passionate” about my cases… and I’ll take it. It’s the best compliment to me.

I also assure you that my staff and I will guide you and try to reduce as much stress as possible regarding your case, with the understanding that The Law Office of Karina A. Ramirez is a team and we work together very closely in handling your case.

The many years of passionately and zealously fighting for my clients sparked an interest in me to use all that litigation experience to establish a Mediation practice which understands the urgency and need to settle Family Law cases. Mediated Settlement Agreements reduce litigant expenses, anxiety, and the expectations of unrealistic impossible results. As a mediator I work with attorneys and their clients to attempt every possible way to settle, by being creative with an “outside the box” approach so that finality is reached faster and litigants may move on with their lives a little less scarred by the “war” of Court. Mediation is an amazing process and I feel blessed to have such a thriving Mediation practice.
